Jim Lawyer has over 30 years of experience in the automotive industry, from an automotive retailer to a pioneer in the automotive.com space, launching several automotive inventory websites in three counties. Mr. Lawyer has been in some facet of the automotive industry since he was 15, with his first job pulling parts at his best friend's father's junkyard. This provided income and a cheap source of parts for his racecars. While working at a local car rental company washing cars to put himself through college, he sold his first used car in 1986, an orange Plymouth Horizon. A few years later, he was a partner in that company, and the car industry "ran over" the dream of being an architect.

As consumer car buying habits shifted from "inventory first" to "credit first," Mr. Lawyer sought to capitalize on this trend and redirected his focus to the credit side of the automotive business by joining Equifax. 

While at Equifax, Mr. Lawyer was exposed to a new type of fraud adversely impacting the automotive industry, synthetic. This began his journey and newfound passion for understanding how to thwart these fraudsters and the new form of identity theft.

Today Mr. Lawyer is the VP of Business Development with 700Credit.
